Hannah Louise Williams, 77, of Ekron, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.  She was a member of Buck Grove Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and served on various committees.  She served on the Ekron School PTA for 25 years.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, John William Shipp, James Francis Shipp and Paul Stith Shipp.
Survivors include her husband, James Williams; six children, James Alan "Jim" Williams of Wellington, Fla., Dan Thomas Williams of Fisherville, Barry Shipp Williams of Luling, Texas, Tony Samuel Williams of Norwood, Ohio, Paula Williams of Guston and Hannah Ruth Irvin of Cape Coral, Fla.; three brothers, Samuel Sanford Shipp of Waverly, Ill., Jacob Emmet Shipp of Panama City  Beach, Fla., and Charles Joseph Shipp of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Buck Grove Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today and continues at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life..

Allie Ray Claycomb              from Meade County Messenger,  August, 2005

Allie Ray Claycomb, 85, Irvington, died Aug. 25, 2005, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born June 16, 1920, in Breckinridge County, the son of the late Jim and Beulah Adkisson Claycomb. He was a farmer, retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department, an Army veteran of World War II, a Kentucky Colonel, member of Breckinridge Memorial Hospital Board for 20 years, and a member of Bewleyville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Claycomb is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Claycomb; a son, Anthony Claycomb, Brandenburg; two daughters, Lois Minter, Bowling Green, and Joan Carman, Harned; four grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Claycomb, Guston. Funeral Services were held Aug. 28 from Bewleyville United Methodist Church, directed by Alexander Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital.

Joe Eugene Coghill, 57, Stephensport, died Aug. 26, 2005, at his residence. He was born Dec. 5, 1947, the son of Joseph Nimrod and Anna Marie Pack Coghill.  He was an electrician, an Army veteran and a member of the Harned Moose
Lodge.  Mr. Coghill is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Yates Coghill; five   sisters, Louise Monchilovich, Meril Wagner, Jeanette Penn, Brandenburg,   Esther Sipes, Ekron, and Mildred Ann Chambers, Guston; three brothers, Charles Coghill, Franklin Lee Coghill, Brandenburg, and James Coghill, Rhodelia; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were held Aug. 29 from the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Maysey officiating. Burial was in Buck Grove Cemetery directed by Hager Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jody Coghill, Donald Monchilovich, Mike Monchilovich, Fred L. Sipes, Jason Coghill, Bobby Coghill and Nathan Penn. Rudell Barnes, 85, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.  She was a member of High Plains United Methodist Church.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Barnes; and her parents Leannie and Ita Blair.  Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Betty Allgood of Elizabethtown; two stepdaughters, Sylvia Taylor of Radcliff and Yvonne Azarian of Richardson, Texas; and two stepsons and their wives, Alvis and Connie Barnes of Germany and James and Sharon Barnes of Kileen, Texas.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove with the Rev. Rose Jones and the Rev. John Vaught officiating.  Burial will be in Big Spring Methodist Church Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and continues at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  The guest register may be signed at www.nebfh.com. 

Dewayne C. Gott                from The News-Enterprise, Elizabethtown, Ky.   Wednesday, February 1, 2006.

Dewayne C. Gott, 36, of Charlestown, Ind., died Sunday, Jan, 29, 2006, at University Hospital in Louisville.

Survivors include his mother, Wanda L. Cox Jupin of Louisville; two sons, Brandon Lee Gott and Michael Paul Gott; and his domestic partner, Joshua Campbell.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. today at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Brandenburg. Visitation is at 8 a.m. today in the funeral home.

Ann Hobbs, 83, of Flaherty, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at North Hardin Health & Rehabilitation Center in Radcliff.

She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wash and Catherine Ray.

Survivors include her husband, Edd Hobbs, of Flaherty; three sons, Mike Hobbs of Chicago, Eddie Hobbs and his wife, Cathy, and Tommy Hobbs, all of Flaherty; six daughters, Barbara Muncy and her husband, John, of Flaherty, Peggy Schweinhart and her husband, Rick, Mary Kaye Hobbs, Jean Schulz and her husband, Bill, and Angela Morris and her husband, Chris, all of Louisville, and Nina Chism and her husband, Herbie, of Brandenburg; one brother, Jerry Ray of New York; 25 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty with the Rev. Paul Beach officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

John Thomas Hobbs Jr., 91, of Flaherty, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Bee Hive Assisted Living in Brandenburg. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Marie Hobbs; a daughter, Theresa Marie Hobbs; and six grandsons. Survivors include nine children and their spouses, Betty and Johnnie Hart of Louisville, Benny Hobbs of Irvington, Mary and Frankie LaRoche of San Pedro, Calif., Frank and Peggy Hobbs of Elizabethtown, Martha and Bobby Pleasant of Madisonville, Gene and Lisa Hobbs of Flaherty, Yvonne and Rocky Howitz of Lexington, Darlene and Dale Ross of Flaherty and Phillip and Terri Hobbs of Flaherty; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty with the Rev. Paul Beach officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Church Cemetery. James B. Stith Jr., 60, died July 9, 2007, in Somerset of complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He was born April 19, 1947, and was raised in Lexington. He graduated from Henry Clay High School, Transylvania University and UK School of Pharmacy. He was a pharmacist at Walgreen's in Somerset. He loved his church and served in many capacities at Immanuel Baptist Church including Sunday school teacher, youth worker, bus driver and choir member. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Stith. Mr. Stith is survived by a son, Sgt. Phil lip (Amy) Stith, Beaufort, S.C.; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. James Stith, Lexington; four
sisters, Nancy Stith, Atlanta, Gal, Sally (David) Steele, Lexington, Helen (George) Keck, Ceres, Va., and Mary Lee Goldstein, Henderson, Nev.; four nephews; and a niece. Mr. Joseph Casper Kaelin, 53, of Vine Grove, died Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. He was born July 17, 1954, the son of Casper Minrod and Mary Louise Peak Kaelin. Mr. Kaelin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandy Kaelirc.  He is survived by Bobby Carter, four sisters, Christine Murphy, Louisville, Joyce (Bill) Straney, Flaherty, Betty (Darrell) Higdon, Leitchfield, and Rennie (Bernie) Sims, Clarkson, Ky., one brother, Bill (Mary) Kaelin, Stith Valley, Ky., and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, with Reverend Paul Beach, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, directed by Hager Funeral Home.

Marquerite Norton Stith, 86, of Louisville and formerly of Brandenburg, died Monday, July 9, at Hill Creek Manor. She was
born in Irvington on August 14, 1920. She was the daughter of Charlie and Beatrice Bruner Norton. She was a Red Cross secretary for several years and had also been employed with the Meade County Board of Education. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Stith. She is survived by her daughter Sue Grawemeyer, Louisville, and two sisters, Marcella Parks and Dorothy Cart, both of Florida. Services were held Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Alexander Funeral Home. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Irvington.

Mrs. Ora Shacklette, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning of July 5, 2007, surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her Ekron home.

An 88-year resident of Meade County, Miss Ora, as she was known to many of her longtime friends, was active in Meade County Senior Citizens, a member of First Baptist Church of Brandenburg, a member of Milan Community Homemakers and worked in the fruit and vegetable judging booth at the Meade County Fair for several decades. Miss Ora was born in Hayti, Mo., orphaned at the age of two and moved to Concordia at the age of eight, where she lived and was raised by her cousins until marrying at age age 15. For decades Miss Ora cleaned and cooked for a farming crew of nine while raising four children of her own and relocating to Milan, where she, her husband and children farmed a near 90-acre farm for 40 years. Miss Ora was the cornerstone of a household that raised chickens, sheep, cows and tobacco at a time when life was simpler, but physically much more demanding. The family endured floods, drought, the Great Depression and regularly took in hungry families looking for work during that difficult time in the nation's history. Miss Ora had a flourishing upholstery business on the family farm for 15 years and also hung wallpaper for 30 years.

After a marriage of 47 years, Miss Ora was widowed in 1973 and after managing the family farm on her own for eight years, she relocated into nearby Brandenburg, where she moved in to help care for her sister-in-law, Miss Lorena Richardson.
Miss Ora cared for Miss Richardson for seven years until Miss Richardson passed on in 1988. The next year Miss Ora moved back to the family farm in Milan, where she lived beside her granddaughter's family for 12 years before moving in with her daughter, Sue Carol, in Ekron in 2000. A grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, Miss Ora actively attended social events and danced every Tuesday at the Senior Citizen's building over the last twenty seven years. Mrs. Shacklette was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Chisholm, of Wolf Creek, her mother Molly Brandon Chisholm, of Hayti, Mo.; her husband, Edward Lee Shacklette; and two grandchildren, William Thomas Cummings II and Donald Lewis Shacklette. She is survived by her children, Joseph Carlisle (Jean) Shacklette of Brandenburg, Francis Lewis (Wanda) Shacklette of Ormond Beach, Fla., Donald Leon (Donna) Shacklette of Louisville, and Sue Carol Cummings of Ekron. Grandchildren are Brenda (Doug) Shacklette Hancock, Lisa (Rafael) Shacklette Del Valle, Edward Lewis (Christy) Shacklette, Stephen Shacklette, Dione (Kevin) Shacklette Amirkhan, Jody (Stephanie) Shacklette, Greg Wright, Glenda Wright, Donna (Bob) Cummings Geddes, Debbie (Jerry) Cummings Chee, Bob Cummings, Charlotte (Kevin) Cummings Fackler.  Great-grandchildren are Brian and Beth Hancock; Brandon, Antonio and Amanda Del Valle; Carter and Chandler Shacklette; Mason and Logan Shacklette; Jason (Myra) Smithson, Nick Smithson, Chris (Emily) Smithson; William and Kayla Cummings, Shelby Snider and Gracie Fackler. Great-great-grandchildren are Kinae and Ellie Smithson.
