Mildred Erd Scott
(December 18, 1926 - October 1, 2007)

Mildred Erd Scott, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born December 18, 1926 in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of John B. and Maggie (Crowe) Erd.

Mrs. Scott earned her AB degree in English in 1947, and her BS degree in Library Science in 1948, both from the University of Kentucky. She worked in the University of Kentucky Library from 1948-1950, and then at the Louisville Public Library from 1950-1953. She then moved to Madison in 1953.

She was a homemaker and a former member of Historic Madison, Inc. Her hobbies included flowers, reading, and music, but especially liked helping Historic Madison, Inc.

Survivors include her husband, James F. Scott, to whom she was married on September 1, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky; one son and daughter-in-law: Brendan and Linda Scott of Indianapolis; one grandson, Ryan Scott of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carolyn Reese in 2004.

Memorial services will be conducted by the Reverend Rachel Scott Marshall at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Historic Madison, Inc. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
