Scott entered this life on Aug. 8, 1924, in Guston near Brandenburg.

He was the son of the late Walter Lee and Ruth Fontaine Scott. He was raised in Brandenburg on the family farm. He was a 1941 graduate of Meade County High School. Mr. Scott was inducted into the U.S. Army on Dec. 1, 1942, in Lexington. He rose to the rank of staff sergeant serving the 271st Infantry Division Company E during World War II. He fought in the battles and campaigns of the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on April 12, 1946, at Fort George G. Meade, Md. He received the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a graduate of the Manhattan College in New York City, where he received his law degree. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he received his accounting degree. He was united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1948, in Jefferson County, Ky., to Mildred Erd. This happy union was blessed with one son, Brendan, to bless their home. He began an apprenticeship with Louis Ackerson in Louisville. He moved to Madison at age 29 and began a career in accounting. He owned and operated the Scott & Callicotte Accounting Agency in Madison for 50 years. He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed membership in Save the Valley. He had served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, Madison City Council, the Madison-Jefferson County Library Board and the Historic Board. He was proud to have donated a library to Ivy Tech State College. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
