Know all men by these presents that I, William Jordan of Bedford County have made ordained and appointed and by these presents do make ordain, constitute and appoint Joseph Stith of the County aforesaid my true and Lawful Attorney for me, and in my name but to my use, to bargain and sale and convey my Tract of Land whereon I now live in the County aforesaid on Jumping Run a Water of Staunton River containing one hundred and forty acres more or less, forty acres of this land I purchased of William Stith in whom the Title still remains ------ my said Attorney is also fully authorized hereby to rent my said plantation until it is sold Also to sell so much of my moveable Estate as may remain unsold at my departure to Kentucky, also to receive all Debts that are or may be due to me in Virginia also to pay all my Lawful Debts so far as my Estate may serve and the money arising under all of these circumstances to pay over to me, my Representatives, to my Order or to just Debts and further to do and execute all and every other lawful Act or Acts needful for recovering receiving and obtaining the moneys or Rents arising there from but to my use as aforesaid as fully and effectually to all intents and purposes as if I were personally present, hereby satisfying and confirming whatsoever my said Attorney shall lawfully do or cause to be done in or about the premises ---- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the 5th day of October One Thousand eight hundred and five

At a Court held for Bedford County at the Courthouse the 28th day of April 1806. This Power of Attorney from William Jordan to Joseph Stith was proved by the oaths of John Stith, Philip Bowman and Elijah Board the subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded.
