This Indenture made the Twenty seventh day of February in the year Eighteen Hundred and
six between Joseph Stith of Bedford County State of Virginia as power of attorney for
William Jordan of Kentucky Hardin County and William Stith of Campbell County State of
Virginia of the one part and Edward Jones of Bedford County of the other part witnesseth:
That the said Joseph Stith and William Stith the said Joseph as Attorney in fact for the
said William Jordan, in consideration of One Hundred and ninety six pounds of Lawful money
of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Edward Jones at or before the ensealing and
Delivery of these present the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and
Sold, and by these presents do, and each of them cloth, bargain and sell the said Joseph
as Attorney in fact for William Jordan, unto the said Edward Jones his Heirs and Assigns a
certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Bedford on Jumping Run a
water of Stanton River, containing One Hundred and forty acres be the same more or less,
and bounded as follows viz. Beginning on a Double White Oak sapling on Jumping Run corner
of Joseph Stiths patent line and with the Patent line down the said Jumping Run 6 poles to
a W. Oak more down, thence offS35 E124 poles to a W. Oak on a branch thence off end up the
said branch the most westerly branch of the E. branch as it meanders to the head to Meads
line and with Meads line N28 W23 poles to his and Jordans Corner pointers N 66 E33 poles
to Meads and Gibbs corner pointers and with Gibbs N44 W80 poles to his and Stiths corner
pointers and with Stiths lines S40 Wl8 poles to R. Oak W 88 poles to a W. Oak S40 W68
poles to a Red Oak W44 poles to the Beginning, it is to be understood the above bound
William Stith is only bound for forty acres of the above Tract of Land which is bounded by
the branch and aforesaid on one side and from the head of the branch with Mead to his and
Jordans pointers thence S 66 W to Joseph Stiths line and with Stiths line to the W. Oak at
the branch aforesaid, together with all and singular the Reversion and Reversions
Remainder and Remainders and of every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said
land with the tenements here attainments and every part and parcel thereof unto the said
Edward Jones his Heirs and Assigns forever and the said Joseph Stith as Attorney for the
said William Jordan and William Stith for the forty acres above mentioned for themselves
and their Heirs the said Land with all the singular and appurtenances before mentioned,
unto the said Edward Jones his Heirs and assigns, free from the claim or claims of them
the said Joseph Stith as Attorney in fact for William Jordan, and William Stith, as above
stated, or either of them, their or either of their Heirs, and of all and every person or
persons whatsoever, shall, will, and do warrant and forever defend by these presents, In
witness whereof of the said Joseph Stith Attorney and William Stith as above stated, have
hereunto set their hands and Seals the day and year listed above

At a Court held for Bedford County at the Courthouse the 28 th day of April, 1806. This
indenture of bargain and Sale between Joseph Stith, Attorney in fact for Wm. Jordan, and
Wm. Stith of the one part and Edward Jones of the Other, was acknowledged by the said
Joseph Stith and proved by the Oaths of Benjamin Stith, Wm. B. Stith and Philip Bowman
subscribing witnesses as to Wm. Stith and Ordered to be Recorded ------
