Mrs. Estie S. Crabbe
Delleker, California,

Dear Mrs, Crabbe:

It has been several months since I have written you, and all this time I have been earnestly trying to find out my great-grandfather's given name, (Mose Stith's father.) As yet I have been unable to find it.

My brother Atty. L.R.Stith of Fairfax, Oklahoma, wrote me, and en. closed a copy of "The Stith Family of Virginia." Also a copy of Jack Stith's letter, and your reply, All of which I made copies for myself. Like myself, my brother is very anxious to find out our ancestral line of the Stith family. Also wrote me that he believed you were the one who could fathom this problem for us.

Since writing you, I have contacted an elderly cousin of Father's in Tennessee. She gave me the age of grandfather Mose Stith. He was born January, 1803, migrated with his family to Kentucky from Virginia, living in Monroe County near Tompkinsville, until married; finally moved to near Celina, Tennessee, The brothers of Mose Stith were Milton, Creel, William, John, Samuel, There were also sisters, but I only know the name of one which was Lucinda, I have written to Mrs. Arvin Stith of Ekron, Kentucky, but have received no reply, I have also written two letters to long Beach, Calif., but both were returned unopened, as they had no doubt moved to some other address.

Did you write to Leslie Stith of Kansas City, Mo.? I have written many letters, and received courteous replies but no one seems to ever have heard of a Stith by the name of Mose. I often wonder if that was grandfather's first name. He might have been called by his second name. Mrs. Henson seemed to think our great-grandfather's name was Thomas, and that my father was named for him; she also said there were no Thomas's on grandmother's side of the house.

I am enclosing a letter from W.A.Stith of Guston, Kentucky (Meade County). Like so many others he had not heard of Mose Stith's family, You can make a copy of his letter if you desire, then return it to me when convenient, He is like so many of my uncles, a lover of fine cattle and hogs a Stith trait.

If you can help me to find my great-grandfather's given name I will not only be very grateful, but will gladly pay you for your trouble.

I -surely would love to see you., as I cannot help claiming you as a relative.

Very Cordially Yours.,

Cora Stith Kibbe,

R.R. Rantaul, Kansas.

P.S. My father, Henry Thomas Stith was born June 7. 1839, near Celina Tennessee. His brothers and sisters were Jordan Stith, Ann Stith, Polly Jane Stith, Melinda Stith, John Stith, Charlotte Stith, Peter Stith, William Stith and Samuel Stith.

Please excuse this badly written letter. I broke my fountain pen yesterday and haven't yet gone after a new one. I would not send such scribbling only I am anxious to learn whether you will be able to lend me a helping hand. However, you have already helped me, as certainly have aroused my interest in hunting for ancestors,

Mrs. C.S.K.
