Minutes from Church Meeting Held Jan. 8th, 1870

Big Spring Jan 8th 1870

At the first regular Church Meeting held in this Church, Chasa B. Lydings was elected Secretary.  On Motion, a Committee of five consisting of Bro. Jessie Stith, Jesse Talbott, Henry Stith, James Mays, Charles B. Lydings was appointed to present to the next Church meeting the names of all members on the roll, who are reported as walking disorderly.  In answer to the Question what is being done for the poor of the church.   Lutita Stith was reported as being in very destitute Circumstances.  The committee on Charity on motion were directed to attend her case - and on motion the Church and community were invited to contribute to her wants and James Mays and Jesse Stith were selected as depots for suppolies.  Were sent to her.  On the Subject of Class Meeting it is arranged that Bro. Kasey meet the class at 11:00 A.M. and  Bro. Limebaugh at the 2nd Sabbath immediately after _____.  The next meeting to be held at Saturday before the 2nd Sabbath.

Minutes from Church Meeting Held March 12th, 1870

At the 2nd regular Church meeting of the Big Spring Church, held in Big Spring March 12th 70.  Minutes of various matters read and approved.   Bro. Limebaugh reported one revival since last meeting at Bewleyville with 9 or 10 conversions and the Church much revived tho rest of the work in a very cold condition.  Greatly wanting in interest in the cause of Religion.  The class leader reported that bad health has prevented him from attending class but will attend in future if his health permits.   The Sabbath School reported 20$ deficiency from last quarter and promised to have it arranged.  The committee appointed last meeting to present the names of all persons reported as walking disorderly reported the following names with specific cautions: Emma Malin (Dancing) Emma Robinson (Dancing) Lucy Whelan (Non attendance) Thos. By request of P. L. Talbott, the name of William Woodson was erased from the roll of the Church.  

D. Lydings was appointed to inquire into the case of Thos. W. McCans.  Bro. J. S. Kasey was appointed.  Bro. Linbaugh & Jesse L. Talbott to talk with S. C. Malin. ---- Columbia Easton reported living near Rock Haven and Bro. Jessee Stith selected to case - Sister Martha Barnett was selected to talk to Sister Mary J. Kerr.  Rest of the names reported were inferred to Bro. Linebaugh to see and talk to.  The Committee's report on the case of Bro. A. R. Morris was received and Bro Morris was Exonerated from all charges. 

A report with resolutions from the meembers of the Quarterly Conference was read by Bro. Limebaugh.  On motion the meeting moved the report without adopting it.   Ordered to hold our next meeting Saturday preceding the 2nd Sabbath in June.

Minutes from Church Meeting Held May 9th, 1896

Big Spring Ky May 9, 1896

At the regular church meeting Saturday May 9th 1896 Bro. W. H. Strother was elected (Sec) and a church conference was held over which Bro. Walton presided.  This being the first conference held for some time. 
The roll was called there being ninety five names enrolled.  Ten leaving were removed by death and certificates.  Twenty four new names were enrolled.  Miss Emmie Clarkson's name was dropped she having joined the  _____briare Church.  Bro. Walton reported having held three protected meetings in book. 
Sunday schools report.  In a good condition, increasing in numbers.  Enough money on hand to carry on all of its book.
Report from stewards, Church assessed $150.00 collected $58.50.
Nothing was reported as being done for the poor and needy.  Bro. Walton made a short talk urging all in doing something for the poor and more for the church. 
Church hasn't reported doing anything for missions and ___ so far.

Minutes from Church Meeting Held Sept. 12th, 1896

Big Spring Ky Sept. 12, 1896

At the regular church meeting Saturday Sept. 12 1896 a church conference was held Bro. Walton presiding.  This being the second conference held.
A Motion was made and seconded to dispense with the calling of the roll.  All appointments have been filled, two protracted meetings having been held since last conference.
Sunday school in a good condition.  But not as flourishing as in early spring. 
Steward collected $103.05 - assessed $150.00, Balance $47.95
Elworth League, report of President.  About 35 members, no very good attendance and not as much interest manifested as there was at first.  Short talk from Bro. Walton.
Church is behind on missions an ____, Motion made and seconded to adjourn.

Minutes from Church Meeting on Jan. 9th, 1897

Big Spring Ky Jan. 9, 1897

At the regular Church meeting Saturday Jan 9, 1897 a church conference was held this being the first one held since the annual conference.  W. H. Struther was elected secretary for the ensuing year.  A motion was made to have the role called.  A motion was made and seconded to write to Mrs. Emma Rawlings in regard to what the ____ do in regard to the membership.
A motion made to write to Charles Stith.  Emma Stith.  Alex Meador.  A Mtion made and seconded to drop Rachel Hugeut.  A motion made and seconded to write to Susie Jiles and Trill P. Morris. 
Report of Preacher in charge.  Held two protracted meetings since conference.   Missed ___llings three appointments. 
Report of Class Leader.  Held class once a month.  Average attendance about 20.   Method of leading class: 1st prayer reading chapter, & singing.   Disorderly conduct; Dolph Hill, Mill Bush, Geo Hilton & Ben I. Clarkson Committee appointed by Bro. Walton to investigate the charges against these members.

Sunday School report doing very well, interest increasing, literature paid for and money in return.
Report of steward - Neither were here.     
League - Report - Attendance not very good, average attendance about 1/3.  Somewhat on the decline. 
John Carter was elected treasurer, but was held not to be legal. 
A committee of James Clarkson and Harry Penick appointed to see the stewards and get them to make a report.  Something having been received on domestic missions.
All agreed to see the delinquent members and urge the members to come.
