Dear Jessie:
It made me feel so good to know that you were so happy to get the Scott information -- and
also to know that the cousin would be able to join DAR - a life-long ambition!
I just got to thinking you might want to get a paper on Philip Glover - the father of Alice Glover Scott. I will give you the information you need and you can use my DAR number for the proof. Send it along with your other one and the same proof will take care of all papers. Tell them to check them together.
Alice C. Glover was the daughter of Philip Glover b. circa 1740 in St. Marys Co., Md, d. 7 Nov. 1791 in Charles Co., Md and his only wife Charity Philpott b. (not known) in Charles Co., Md, died at Charles Co., Md between 13 Feb. 1790 and 5-9-1970 (date of making and probating of her will) married on 1764/65 in Charles Co., Md.
Alice C. Glover Scott b. 1766 - ref: "death statistic states b. Md. maiden name
Alice Glover" Named in will of Charity Gover as "dau."
Philip died before Charity in 1790. His final Acct. was made 6 Mar. 1793 Charles Co., Md.
Philip Glover was a PATRIOT - signed the Oath of Allegiance in Charles County Maryland 1778 as shown on the "Worshipful George Dent's List" p. 17 of book in DAR Library: "List of Signers in Charles Co, of Oaths of Allegiance taken before different magistrates as mentioned below and returned by them to Charles Co." - by Charles R. Morhead, El Paso, Texas - not dated. (a little blue bound book)
Children of Richard Glover and Charity (Philpott) Glover: (I think "Richard" is a typo here. Above she clearly say "Phillip" jbs 3/29/2000)
Alice C. Glover m. Thomas Scott
Philip Glover - died 1801, unm.
John Philpott Glover m. Matilda Nettle, to Ky, to Mo.
Elizabeth Philpott Glover - (no info)
Mary Glover
I'm pleased I got to know you, too!
Nellie Blanche
P.S. Will you do something for me? I would be most grateful! On p 169 in "Two
Centures in E-Town and Hardin Co" McClure is an article on my Philip Jenkins. I wrote
Mr. McClure, before he died to find out who gave that info. He gave me only the name of Mr
J. Ray Asheraft (lives there) who sent me Ashcraft material (which was of no benefit) but
did not mention the Jenkins. Would you call him and ask if he can give me the Jenkins
contributor's name? Or if he doesn't know perhaps the librarian in E-town could find out
for me.(inside)
